Bow is in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and is historically the heart of the East End, as it’s believed that being born in earshot of the ‘Bow Bells’ gives someone true Cockney status. The name derives from an abbreviation of Stratford-atte-Bow, the medieval name for the area that once boasted a bow shaped bridge.
With origins dating back to circa 1110 Bow is one of the oldest suburbs in London. The area underwent regeneration due to the arrival of the Olympic games which was staged at neighboring Stratford. Now the rich history combines with the modern city improvements and you can find attractive terrace housing from the Victorian and Georgian areas mixed with modern apartments and council blocks.
The location has a plethora of transport
means as the underground, DLR and prime bus routes are all available. Proximity to Stratford allows people to access one of the largest shopping centres in Europe, Westfield Stratford City, in 10 minutes via car travel.
Being bordered with Victoria park allows excellent outdoor space for people to jog, ride, play tennis or simply walk. Stretched over 86 hectares there are three lakes, festivals to enjoy in the summer, playgrounds and wildlife to spot including deer.
There are many schools
including primary and secondary, special schools, religious schools and grammar schools. Ofsted ratings have been generally positive with many schools attaining ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ scores.
The character and community spirit of Bow makes it an attractive place to live. If you’re looking to find out the value of your home, to purchase, to sell or to rent a property then our highly motivated teams would love to help.
