Charlton is south east of London, in the borough of Greenwich. Its stands on high ground, overlooking the Thames and maintains a villagey feel.
This region was once a little village and although it has flourished into this beautiful town, the charm of its rural heritage is still retained. Part of its charm comes from London’s only surviving Jacobean mansion built in 1607, Charlton House, which you can found in Charlton Park. The House holds much history and is the setting for some fantastic gardens, including the Peace Gardens which is known to locals as the heart of the community. Maryon park, a large wooded hilly area overlooking the Thames, is also laden with history and another of Charlton’s treasures.
Charlton’s small high street contains useful shops and there is a convenient shopping park with many retail chains and coffee shops. Transport links
are good with the rail line connecting to London Bridge and Cannon Street via Greenwich. The A102 also connects Charlton to Blackwall Tunnel and the M11.
Properties in Charlton range from having private houses to council estates, with some Victorian terraces still existing. House prices tend to be more affordable than Greenwich town and neighbouring Blackheath.
The many schools
offer primary and secondary, special schools, religious schools and grammar schools. Ofsted ratings have been generally positive with many schools attaining ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ scores.
The local heritage and villagey feel makes Charlton a highly sought place to live. If you’re looking to find out the value of your home, to purchase, to sell or to rent a property then our highly motivated teams would love to help.
