In Bow you can find the fantastic Roman Road Market which has been going for more than 150 years. The traditional market sells reasonably priced and discounted homeware and fashion items. Along the same road there are bakeries, convenience stores, boutiques, restaurants and cafes, which are popular within the vibrant community.
For open spaces, the lively Mile End park offers play areas, an ecology park, climbing wall, gardens, plus much more. Mile End stadium can also be found at the south end of the park and offers many facilities. Plus, there is a weekly free 5km run and the park has held London’s largest beer garden. Additionally, north of E3 is Victoria park which offers 86 hectares of beautiful green space, ponds, sports grounds, tennis courts and canals.
The area has good transport links with Bow, Bromley-by-Bow and Mile End stations being served by the District and Hammersmith & City lines. The latter also being served by the Central line. There are also two DLR stations, numerous bus services and cycle routes.
The many schools offer primary and secondary, special schools, religious schools and grammar schools. Ofsted ratings have been generally positive with many schools attaining ‘good’ and ‘outstanding’ scores.
