Alex Neil were established in 1984 and have been operating successfully as Victoria Dock Estate Agents providing residential sales and lettings services.
The Royal Victoria Dock was the first London dock to allow for large steam ships. It was an immediate success, transporting over 850,000 tons of shipping per year which is much more than the other docks in London. However, when containerisation was adopted by the shipping industry the docks went into steady decline.
To combat this, the government started the London Docklands Development Corporation (LDDC) which pushed a major redevelopment phase. Most of the original warehouses were demolished or converted into flats, and the dock itself is now used for watersports.
Dominating the Victoria dock is the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, an award-winning exhibitions and international convention centre, which has two DLR stations within walking distance of the entrance - Prince Regent and Custom House. There are more DLR stations surrounding Victoria Dock which all provide access into central London in around 30 minutes.
South of the dock is Britannia Village, an award-winning development of homes, retail, leisure and business facilities. There are currently plans for more developments which aim to create thousands of new homes, commercial and leisure spaces.
