Chislehurst Area Guide & Local Information: Within the London Borough of Bromley, Chislehurst is a wealthy suburban area southeast of London. Bordering the London Boroughs of Bexley and Royal Greenwich, the conurbation lies east of Bromley and southwest of Sidcup.
Chislehurst remained a rural community until the arrival of the railways and the construction of Chislehurst Station in 1865. Although, like many areas, a property development boom followed the station as it became more accessible to London itself, the population and housing numbers swelled.
Many different property styles and build eras are represented locally. Converted and purpose-built apartments, starter homes, Victorian terraced homes, house sizes and prices reflect this. In addition, there are leafy tree-lined roads home to beautiful detached homes set in secluded and generous-sized plots.
Today there is a thriving restaurant and café culture and a village-like atmosphere in Chislehurst. The town centre is surrounded by greenery, including common land.
