Alex Neil were established in 1984 and have been operating successfully as Canary Wharf Estate Agents providing residential sales and lettings services.
Within the Borough of Tower Hamlets, Canary Wharf is a major business district in east London containing one of the main financial centres and many of Europe’s tallest buildings.
Canary Wharf takes its name from an original Warehouse on the South Quay Import Dock, built in 1952 for Fruit Lines Ltd. Between 1981–89 the warehouse was converted into television studios, known as Limehouse Studios. In 1991 the first buildings for a new business district were completed, including One Canada Square which became symbolic of the Docklands regeneration and the UK’s tallest building at the time.
Since then Canary Wharf has expanded prolifically and is a thriving business district. Most people go there to work in the high-rise offices or to take advantage of the vast range of shops, restaurants, pubs and wine bars. However, the residential population is growing and the living environment is flourishing. The residents of the area have the convenience of walking to work and will have access to Crossrail which is set to arrive in 2018.
The addition of Crossrail will not only improve the station, but cut journey times and make more trains available to many destinations including Central London, Heathrow and the West End. Canary Wharf is already well connected, with the underground station on the Jubilee Line, the DLR, regular boat services, numerous buses and proximity to London City Airport.
